The developer of IV Studio releases version 1.0 of the free, MIT-licensed desktop app that drives your own ComfyUI over its API as an open-source Higgsfield alternative.
Key updates:
- New Linux (self-updating AppImage) and Mac (Apple Silicon & Intel) builds, plus Comfy Cloud as a third cloud option alongside RunPod and Modal
- First-launch hardware detection sets previews, download and prompt settings; guided cloud setup if your GPU is too small
- Free local character LoRA training via Fizgig on 16GB+ NVIDIA cards, with presets, spending caps and InsightFace likeness scoring; RefMod characters from 1–6 photos in 30 seconds
- SDXL fine-tunes, custom Ollama/ComfyUI addresses, one-click pinned custom-node installs, per-shot sampler/scheduler control
- Live preview panel streams every step, including agent renders over MCP; MCP tools grew from 142 to 154
Tested on a 4090 with 64GB RAM; the trailer's Disney-Renaissance-style opening was made in IV Studio (Krea 2 frames + H3 animation).
