YC-backed boat.dev hits $1M ARR in 22 months after 6 pivots

The YC-batch team behind boat.dev, an agent sandbox product, announced reaching $1M ARR — a goal that was their best-case scenario for the entire batch, achieved in just two-thirds of it.
Growth took 6 pivots over 22 months: 0 to $10K ARR in 16 months (5 pivots), $10K to $100K in 4 months, $100K to $200K in 1 month, then $200K to $1M in just 1 month. The team says subscriptions are only a fraction of total revenue and next target is $100M.
The product: persistent Ubuntu VM sandboxes built for AI agents, with Docker, GitHub CLI, VS Code and devtools preinstalled, snapshot forking, dedicated IPs, and per-second billing from $20/month (555 hours of 4 vCPU/8GB VM time), undercutting E2B, Modal and Vercel Sandbox on price.
