Mollick: LLMs can 10x investigative journalism, but story taste remains human
emollick · x · 2026-11-07
Ethan Mollick argues LLMs can 10x investigative journalism — analyzing filings, records, and public data on a company or government once took a team of reporters months, and can now be massively amplified, potentially ushering in a golden age of investigative reporting.
But he flags a bigger bottleneck: AI could do 1000x more research, while the taste for what makes an interesting story almost certainly remains human — the same bottleneck now constraining academic research. At least for now.
