Z is Diophantine in Q proof slashes bounds: degree drops from 2↑↑7 to 4
anderssandberg · x · 2026-11-08
Anders Sandberg highlighted the elliotglazer/diophantine-z-q repo (Version 10, Nov 7, 2026) proving Z is Diophantine in Q, noting a hallmark of the new grassroots/AI-swarm math: absurd first-breakthrough bounds get pushed down dramatically. Here the degree fell from 2↑↑7 to 4 and coefficients from 2↑↑8 to "just" 2^3247. Version 9 added quartics in 523 variables with exact symbolic coefficients; Version 10 addresses nine open issues with unchanged polynomial data. The Lean formalization is still an intense work in progress.
