Qualcomm has signed Amazon, Meta and Microsoft as server chip customers and targets $5 billion in data center revenue for fiscal 2027, with first Amazon data center revenue expected this quarter.
The author frames it for CIOs/CTOs: device and cloud AI choices now involve a vendor on both sides — Snapdragon laptops with built-in NPUs on the endpoint, while Qualcomm server chips go into Amazon's own data centers, where naming, pricing and availability are decided by Amazon, not Qualcomm. Your laptop refresh is now part of your AI plan.
