OpenYantra: local-first memory HUD for Cursor with 1-command MCP setup
RevanthLevaka · reddit · 2026-11-07
A developer released OpenYantra (MIT), a local-first memory engine aimed at fixing context resets in Cursor — losing architectural decisions, project status, and pending tasks when sessions reset or compress.
Highlights:
- Desktop floating HUD: press Cmd+Shift+Y in Cursor or terminal to capture thoughts, tag tasks (#project, !urgent), and fuzzy-search past decisions;
- yantra mcp setup auto-detects the Cursor config, backs it up, and installs the OpenYantra MCP server so the AI can read your state directly;
- A git post-commit hook logs commit summaries and modified files into a session ledger;
- Fully local storage in open .ods and SQLite files, no cloud, works on macOS/Windows/Linux.
