22-year Apple vet runs Omarchy Linux on M1 MacBook, predicts an 'Omarchy mode' for macOS
smtabatabaie · x · 2026-11-07
An engineer who worked at Apple for 22 years says he installed Omarchy Linux on his M1 MacBook Pro instead of macOS — and everything works: in-flight WiFi, Apple Music, speakers, AirDrop. The system is fast and "AI native": you can just prompt to launch Claude, Grok bot, Discord and other go-to apps.
smtabatabaie predicts Apple will ship a developer mode mimicking Omarchy on macOS in the coming years. The original poster notes it still has rough edges but says any good techie should try it to see what an AI-first OS looks like.
