OpenAI built its own Git backend to keep up with agent-scale parallel coding
Hesamation · x · 2026-11-07
OpenAI's CTO of Applications revealed the company built an internal Git backend because its coding agents work at a scale classic version control wasn't designed for. "Git was originally built for an offline use case… whereas now when we're thinking about agents, all of those are online all the time." The remark hints at a massive volume of parallel agent-driven commits inside OpenAI.
