Gaussian Splats for UI: dev prototypes imagen→SHARP→spark→popmelt pipeline with smooth animation
janusch_patas · x · 2026-11-07
Developer bekhovsgun explored whether Gaussian splats can render interfaces and interactive objects — answer: yes. He prototyped an imagen → SHARP → spark → popmelt pipeline that got decently far on the first try, achieving smooth animation, dynamic lighting, and realistic geometry with freely available tech; a few rounds of art direction and interaction tuning pushed it much further.
Lab demos (e.g. World Labs) have mostly focused on static 3D environments so far, making this an early attempt at splat-based UI; full scenes are still unexplored. januschpatas reposted it as vindication of his 3-year-old prediction that Gaussian Splatting will dominate everything.
