X updated its open-source recommendation algorithm on Nov 5, its first change in three weeks. Key shifts: like weight rose 0.66 → 0.708 (record high), read-time weight 0.006 → 0.0075, taps 0.3 → 0.274, video opens 0.02 → 0, and 'not interested' votes hit much harder. AI replies under big accounts are now flagged as 'llm slop' and skip the poster's notifications. Early likes from first viewers matter most for small accounts, and profile dwell time now counts too.
