Australian design giant Canva will cut 1,271 roles — 22% of its workforce — in a major restructure. CEO and co-founder Melanie Perkins told staff the company needs to "refound Canva" and return to small, empowered teams after growth slowed for the first time in a decade, calling it "the hardest moment" in the company's 13-year history. The plan merges product, growth, and platform teams into one product organisation, cuts management layers, makes Sydney the primary hub for more product teams, and requires hybrid staff in-office 2-3 days a week from January. Canva's online design tools serve more than 265 million users.
