Removing Redis from a Lambda cuts average duration from 1285ms to ~500ms
DanielLockyer · x · 2026-11-07
jsneedles showed Daniel Lockyer a latency fix: after removing Redis from their Lambda, CloudWatch Duration metrics show the average dropped from 1285ms to around 500ms (the average is purposefully kept at a floor of 500ms), and the 28.7s maximum spikes disappeared. The author notes a bunch of positive knock-on effects from getting Redis out of the Lambda.
