GitHub detailed its new Git storage architecture (by Karthik Raman & Brian Celenza), announced at GitHub Universe. Internal testing showed it can handle thousands of writes per second: 5,000 concurrent agents working on a single repo, 7,200 pushes per second, with on-demand scaling reads at consistently low latency — designed for the age of many AI agents committing code simultaneously.
