Robot team goes from data collection to live factory demo in under 24 hours

A robotics team recounts a 3-day on-site visit to a prospective paying pilot customer:
- First data collection to live demo took under 24 hours; 13 people attended. Tasks: routing cables between machines and pressing buttons
- The hard cable-insertion task needed only 200 demonstrations despite plug occlusion
- Lessons learned: setup must get to roll-out-of-a-car-and-plug-in speed; half the demos had corrupted follower-arm states (fixed with a linear model + new collection-time checks); internet was the bottleneck twice — Starlink struggles indoors, so they used mobile hotspot plus SSD transfers
- Alternating collection and retraining is fastest for model improvement, but each round still takes hours even on 8x H100.
