Musk: Starlink V4's ~100 lasers per satellite at 10+ Tb/s could outcompete undersea cables
elonmusk · x · 2026-11-07
Elon Musk detailed Starlink V4's laser interlinks: 100 lasers per satellite, each above 10 Tb/s, which combined with 100k+ satellites should be able to outcompete undersea cables. Light travels 40% faster in space than in fiber, and the direct path avoids following landmasses. V4 is claimed to have 10x the capability of V3, which was itself 10x better than V2.
