OpenAI launches BioBasicsBench: 100 real wet-lab tasks to test AI agents
kimmonismus · x · 2026-11-07
OpenAI partnered with enzyme-design biotech Ligo to release BioBasicsBench, a benchmark measuring how well AI agents handle routine analyses of wet-lab science.
It draws on 100 tasks from real experiments, testing whether agents can interpret raw lab data, identify errors, and recognize when the evidence doesn't support a conclusion. OpenAI frames this groundwork as the starting point for accelerating biological research.
