Theory Ventures' AI agent hackathon: build the most profitable bakery in 5 hours
sh_reya · x · 2026-11-07
Theory Ventures' second annual AI agent hackathon, The Great Business Bake Off (Dec 11, SF), challenges participants to inherit a bakery and use their AI agents to make it the most profitable in town within five hours — setting prices, hiring staff, changing menus, and expanding while handling curveballs.
- For AI engineers, data scientists, founders; approval required, limited spots. Last year drew 114 bakers from NVIDIA, Meta, Google, Anthropic and dozens of startups
- Judges: Tomasz Tunguz, Bryan Bischof, Evals for AI co-authors Hamel Husain & Shreya Shankar, Mischa Lamoureux
- Partners: Sail, LanceDB, MotherDuck
- Husain calls it "an IRL Kaggle competition + RPG" — optimizing a business with AI rather than showing off apps; first 50 signups get a free copy of their evals book
