Bing Webmaster Tools exposes the actual prompts AI assistants send — and rankings diverge wildly from Google
aiterra_il · reddit · 2026-11-06
A web studio found that many Bing Webmaster Tools "queries" are actually full prompts sent by AI assistants to ground answers, e.g. "make web search for the following query: ...". Topics were highly specific: CRM comparisons, website/SEO costs, accessibility regs, WhatsApp API.
- Their pages rank 1-7 for these AI prompts vs 40-90 on Google for similar topics — assistant-layer ranking diverges completely from Google
- Over 30 days: 273 sessions from ChatGPT vs 671 from Google, trackable only via utmsource=chatgpt.com since ChatGPT sends no referrer
A useful lens for anyone building web-search agents: check what your agent's queries look like on the other side.
