Letting AI stay on the line after customers hang up turned post-call notes into actions
gsuiteautomations · reddit · 2026-11-07
A team building AI phone agents shares a counterintuitive practice: the most valuable moment is the minute after the customer hangs up.
The approach: instead of closing the line, the AI stays on and asks the rep "anything to add?" The rep just talks — "send the customer detailed instructions on X," "email support about his second issue," "he wants the Instagram integration, let sales know" — and the AI logs these and hands them off to Claude or ChatGPT for execution.
Key insight: they built zero predefined workflows for this. Classic workflows require predicting what customers will ask; real calls don't fit. Since the model already heard the whole conversation, you just describe messy needs and it figures out execution.
The author is soliciting input on guardrails: how to verify before the AI actually sends things to customers.
