Ben Bajarin: GPT-6 Cyber validates his thesis that cybersecurity becomes the budget enabling enterprise AI
BenBajarin · x · 2026-11-06
Analyst Ben Bajarin says OpenAI's GPT-6 Cyber is doing exactly what he predicted in his June cybersecurity report, laying out his "enterprise AI control layer" thesis:
- Security as the approval gate: In his CIO/CTO survey and enterprise interviews, cybersecurity is the top concern for agentic deployments; as capable open models advance, attacker cost and technical barriers fall, widening the threat surface.
- Spending shape: AI security likely won't arrive as one neat new category — it increases the burden on existing security controls (data access first), then returns through the existing cyber budget at renewal.
- New role for frontier labs: Defenders need models operating at attacker speed; OpenAI, Anthropic and peers could license stronger models directly to large enterprises and sovereign governments for cyber defense, built specifically for security work and offered under restricted access rather than public release.
