Canada lets grant applicants use AI but forbids reviewers — Kording calls it wrong
wandedob · x · 2026-11-06
Neuroscientist Konrad Kording flags a contradiction in Canadian research funding rules: applicants may use AI for their grant proposals, but reviewers are barred from using it when assessing them. "That seems wrong," he writes, attaching a proposal screenshot with apparent AI-generation tells and jokingly asking ChatGPT which prompt the author used.
Repliers question whether this is standard in most countries, pointing to the asymmetry in academic AI-use norms.
