New vibe coder replicates Autodesk Maya in 3 hours with ChatGPT, asks for better workflow
Kiiaro · reddit · 2026-11-06
Reddit user Kiiaro, after discovering AI-assisted software building, is recreating a free Autodesk Maya alternative with ChatGPT. A screenshot shows a working 3D modeling UI — perspective viewport, Select/Object/Display menus, hotkeys — built in just 3 hours, rendering its first cube.
His method: prompt ChatGPT to replicate the Maya modeling and shader tools he uses daily, have it read Maya's official docs on tools and navigation, then test each dev build iteratively. He's not aiming for a perfect clone, just the features he uses everyday in a UI Maya users can pick up quickly, and asks whether his approach is outdated.
