Perplexity launches Teammates: role-based AI coworkers that message you on Slack
_andychung · x · 2026-11-06
Perplexity officially launched Teammates: unlike one-shot task tools, Teammates are designed as actual roles on your team with long-term goals. They proactively take on jobs, use Comet's Computer tasks, skills, memory, and tools, collaborate with other teammates, and can message coworkers in Slack. Available now for Max subscribers on the web.
Accompanying visuals show a role metaphor system—Designer, Builder, Strategist, Critic, Reviewer, Archivist and dozens more—plus product imagery. A companion post stresses the usage principle: give each teammate a real role and a long-term goal. Another signal of agent products shifting from tools toward "digital coworkers."
