Writer paper: Multi-layer Indexer overlaps indexer scans to speed up DSA decode
Writer · hf · 2026-11-06
Writer AI Research published a paper on the Multi-layer Indexer (MLI): in DeepSeek Sparse Attention (used by DeepSeek-V3.2 and GLM-5), adjacent layers select nearly the same tokens, so a layer can reuse the previous indexer's selection. This removes the dependency — each indexer runs concurrently with its layer's attention — boosting long-context decode throughput without retraining while maintaining accuracy.
