Healthtech startup shares lessons from AI agents that chase patient bills: test whole threads, not single replies

A US healthtech startup whose agents call, text, email and mail patients about balances shared key lessons. Paid only when a patient's balance hits zero and reconciles correctly, the team spotted a subtle risk: any single agent email could look fine, but reading a 10-message thread in order reveals where the model lost context. Most teams test agents one answer at a time — patients experience the whole conversation. Their fix: a QA agent that reads every thread across every channel in order, checking whether questions were answered, whether anything inappropriate was said, and whether it should have escalated to a human.
