Pinecone released pgpinecone, an Apache 2.0 Postgres extension bringing its search engine to data already stored in Postgres.
Key numbers: its RaBitQ cluster index holds 1M 768-dimensional vectors in 136 MB versus HNSW's 2.0 GB, at 1.27 ms query latency for 0.95 recall. Unlike graph indexes, it stores a compact summary per vector for a small memory footprint and fast builds; filters apply during search rather than after, so narrow tenant-scoped queries still return full result sets—all inside Postgres with no second system to run.
