HexAnima runs anime diffusion fully offline on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 NPU, 512x768 in ~7s

A hobby developer released HexAnima, an Android app that generates anime images entirely on-device with no cloud, account, ads or root, targeting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 / 8+ Gen 1 Hexagon V69 NPU that most NPU image apps skip.
- 7s for 512x768 with 2B models (12s for 2.9B), 4 steps, tested on Xiaomi 12T Pro
- Four MiaoMiao models built on the Anima base, downloaded in-app (4-5GB) with resumable, sha256-verified downloads; APK is 25MB
- Technical details: custom fp16 kernels run 28 DiT blocks on the HMX matrix unit; 2.9B weights stored as int8 tiles dequantized on HVX into VTCM; a workaround replaces missing int-to-float instructions on V69; first two steps run at reduced resolution, VAE decodes in tiles; unsigned FastRPC DSP modules launched from the app's native lib dir avoid root
- Features Danbooru tag autocomplete, PNG-embedded settings, 13 languages; free and non-commercial, source on GitHub
