Hob: free open-source local AI app that reads docs and fills PDFs fully offline
Div_pradeep · x · 2026-11-05
Hob is a free, open-source local AI app for Mac/Windows/Linux that keeps everything on your laptop with no internet required — a private alternative for handling sensitive documents.
- 10-minute setup: it auto-picks and installs a model fitting your machine, no terminal or settings
- Drop in a PDF to extract key dates and risks, or let it fill in PDF forms
- Works with Wi-Fi off, proving fully local inference
Caveats: local models aren't as sharp as ChatGPT/Claude and Hob is young — use it for everyday work, not the hardest problems.
