Researcher: Working With AI Means Living at the Edge of Sanity — AI Literacy Should Teach Emotional Regulation
danielrock · x · 2026-11-05
Researcher randomwalker argues that working with AI requires perpetually operating at the edge of sanity: you must recalibrate your mental model of AI capabilities and your own job description every few months, without getting delusional about seemingly infinite productivity gains, feeling threatened by losing the "uniquely human" part of your job, obsessing over the perfect setup, or losing your mind over the clumsiness of agents.
He suggests AI literacy may need to be less about prompting and more about emotional regulation, and that empathizing and collaborating with people whose AI boundaries differ from our own is becoming an important skill — people sort into camps because it is psychologically easier than constantly revisiting their beliefs.
