Dev builds Linux-compatible x86 kernel with AI in 11 days, then kills it

gmkurtzer shares an extreme experiment: using HDAE and AI, he wrote an x86 OS kernel compatible with Linux user-space in 11 days (open-sourced as Ginux, 447 stars). He stresses it was never meant as a production Linux replacement but a test of what AI can do when led by someone who deeply understands the domain. He defines vibe coding narrowly as non-experts stumbling AI into existence, arguing expert-led AI output is far more impressive. The original bootable kernel is archived on the bootable-kernel branch; active development continues as a userspace kernel.
