MercadoLibre refuses to feed inventory to AI shopping agents as retailers brace for agentic commerce
dbasch · x · 2026-11-05
MercadoLibre ($MELI) announced it will not provide its inventory to any third-party AI shopping platform for now, keeping its listings out of agentic AI shopping.
dbasch notes that agents strip away frictions retailers rely on: an agent can watch sites 24/7 for the best price, compare everywhere simultaneously, and trigger "match this price" offers — so retailers will defend tooth and nail against them. MELI's move is an early example of that resistance.
