Can't get Dots or Duet in Europe? 6 open-source clones, top at 7.2K stars
femke_plantinga · x · 2026-11-05
ChatGPT Dots skipped the EEA/UK, Claude Duet is US-waitlist only, and Muse and Grok Bot are US/paid-only — leaving most of Europe sidelined. A roundup of 6 self-hostable open-source clones, sorted by stars:
- OpenBot (CopilotKit, 7.2K★, MIT): clones Grok Bot — a team of bots in a Slack-style app, every action policy-checked and audit-logged
- Open Duet (6.2K★, Apache 2.0): clones Duet/Dots/Muse/Grok Bot — named agents with memory, routines, isolated computer, approval gates
- OpenDots (6.1K★, MIT): self-hosted Dots with any OpenAI-compatible model, Slack mentions, scheduled tasks
- OpenMausBot (5.7K★, Apache 2.0): runs bots via official Claude/Codex/Grok CLI on your existing login; $49 cloud plan available
- OpenMuse (5.7K★, MIT): clones Muse — one agent with persistent browser, terminal, files, Gmail and Calendar
- nanoMuse (2.7K★, GPL-3.0): one agent across phone/tablet/desktop/browser, using the screen as its hands
Caveat: self-hosting moves the server to you, but prompts still go to whichever model you plug in — a local model via Ollama keeps everything on your own hardware with no API bill. Two projects were deliberately excluded: invisibledots markets itself as anti-bot-undetectable, and Open Dot has no license file.
