Dev builds a 3D photorealistic bookshelf with AI-generated book spines you can pull off and read
dh7net · x · 2026-11-05
Engineer Boris Smus turned his book reviews into a 3D photorealistic bookshelf website: books sit on virtual IKEA Billy bookcases, and clicking pulls one off the shelf to read his review.
Since book-spine imagery is rare, 95% of the spines are AI-generated from covers, with real dimensions, curved spines on thick tomes, and synthetic wear. There's also a "sort by color" button, purely to annoy you.
