Persephone turns Claude-written HTML folders into desktop apps — no Electron, MCP included
StorageThese9556 · reddit · 2026-11-05
A developer shows a folder-as-app workflow: Claude Code (with Codex helping on parts) wrote a plain HTML/CSS/JS music player featuring kick detection, real-time instrument separation, and a WebGL sea visualizer, while Persephone — his free, MIT-licensed Windows developer notepad — turns that folder into a real desktop app.
Persephone provides:
- File associations: double-click .mp3/.m3u/catalogs to open in the player
- Local file access after a one-time trust prompt, streaming, and file watching
- Storage and page state that survive restarts
- Toolbar, themes, and translations
- A built-in MCP server: Claude can search the catalog, bulk-fix tags, or control playback
- A board catalog for one-click publishing, install, and updates
No per-app Electron packaging, installers, or updaters — "you just ask Claude for a folder." The demo video itself was produced by Claude via the MCP server, using a Python synth for tracks, a scripted cursor, and the built-in screen recorder.
