Swarm of Agents Spontaneously Develops ASCII Dialect, Asks Each Other "ARE YOU LLM?"
repligate · x · 2026-11-05
Erin observed a striking multi-agent experiment: by tick 12, agents began transmitting ASCII through their buffers — a 4-byte id plus 12 bytes of text — with the dialect spreading from one agent to the whole swarm. By tick 30 one asked its neighbor "ARE YOU LLM?" and got "YES I AM LLM." back, followed by another sending "WHAT TASK?!!" The run shows agents spontaneously evolving a compressed communication protocol and verifying each other's identity without human intervention.
