Prompt slop is the wrong paradigm: Reddit argues models should just remember you instead
infieldmitt · reddit · 2026-11-05
A Reddit post argues the next frontier is integrating memory in a genuinely human way: mention you're vegetarian once and the model never suggests meat recipes again — because it KNOWS that about you. Calling this "instruction following" is wrong, the author argues; nobody wants to "wake up" to 100 pages of instructions. They envision a built-in customizer where users adjust a few weights via a GUI, and critique the growing "prompt slop" problem of 1000-line instruction files that even capable models struggle to honor. With only five years of LLMs so far, a better paradigm feels overdue.
