Could AI mediate all commerce overhead until 'money no longer matters'?
curious_vii · x · 2026-11-05
A speculative essay arguing that if AI automated negotiation, contracting, monitoring and coordination overhead, 'money' would stop being top-of-mind—people could focus on real value creation while resources expand accordingly.
The author says two conditions are needed:
- AI deployment must follow the principle of subsidiarity (Palantir's vision gestures at this but doesn't go far enough);
- The ambient economic layer's Cambrian explosion of financial activity needs a hard-money base: BTC plus Selgin-style free banking, where banks look more like a high-tech fusion of merchant bank and guild than JPMorgan.
Free markets with stable institutions already sort of work this way, but there's huge headroom—e.g. via on-chain financial products that price the proprietary information your property and actions generate.
