Oumi lets you plug in Claude or GPT to train a replacement model you fully own
testingcatalog · x · 2026-11-05
Oumi.ai launched a platform positioning itself as "the AI that builds your AI," letting companies retain full ownership of the models they use: connect an existing agent like Claude or GPT to Oumi and train a new model to replace it; a reinforcement-learning option that trains on task completion is in private preview.
Its Frontier AI Engineer agent (FAiE) automates a seven-step pipeline: define the task, propose evaluators and measure baselines, curate task data and flag bad rows, suggest model family/size/training method/hyperparameters and score runs, deploy inference endpoints, and group production traces into one-click-fixable failure modes. Oumi claims a specialized model averages 155 days of scarce specialist work, cut 10× with FAiE.
