X web rewrite cuts first-post load time from 22s to 2.7s on slow connections
soleio · x · 2026-11-05
Engineers behind X's rebuilt web client shared results: on a slow connection, the old site took over 22 seconds to show the first post on a profile, while the new one does it in 2.7 seconds, rolling out country by country. Alexabraham also introduced XDS (X Design System), noting the hardest part at this scale is balancing semantics, ergonomics, flexibility, and opinionated defaults — the goal is a system anyone can pick up and immediately build beautiful things with.
