TorchTPU compat study: 4,821 of 4,917 community models run crash-free on TPUs

Google's systems report describes a native PyTorch backend for TPUs (TorchTPU):
- Model compatibility: 4,821 of 4,917 tested community models run without crashing (98%).
- Numerical parity: an architecture-level check found 638 of 657 representative models match GPU results. The two measures answer different questions; neither guarantees performance.
- Architecture: PyTorch ops flow through StableHLO into the OpenXLA compiler stack. Eager execution supports debugging, deferred fusion groups ops where useful, and torch.compile enables larger compiled regions — preserving familiar workflows.
Engineering implication: a more direct path for existing PyTorch code (vLLM, Ray, SGLang) to run on TPUs.
