Microsoft adds 60+ native SharePoint ops to Work IQ, lifting agent pass rate from 70.1% to 84.6%

Microsoft launched SharePoint tools in Work IQ in public preview, exposing 60+ native SharePoint operations through the Work IQ MCP server so Copilots and custom agents can find, understand, create, organize and share SharePoint content.
Key numbers
- Internal evals: task pass rate rose from 70.1% to 84.6% while using 16% fewer tokens
- Versus direct Graph API access, success-rate lift of up to 77% depending on task
Design
- Core idea: package 25 years of content-management expertise into the tools themselves rather than prompts — "what if SharePoint expertise lived in the tool, not the prompt?"
- Work IQ sits in the middle providing MCP endpoints plus identity, policy and metering, serving both Copilot agents and developer-built agents
- Same tools roll out to Microsoft Copilot Studio across low-code, pro-dev and maker scenarios
Use cases are shifting from asking questions about content to delegating real work: build a tracker, update a list, answer from a policy library, generate deliverables from entire document libraries.
