Edward Witten posted a new arXiv paper, A Note On Lattice Definition of Gauge Theories With Chiral Fermions, proposing a variant of Craig's recent algorithm: interpolating the lattice gauge field over the continuum and coupling it to continuum chiral fermions (a similar approach was independently proposed by Hsu). The method can in principle be implemented on a computer in any dimension and for any anomaly-free representation, but not in practice via Monte Carlo since the chiral fermion path integral is not positive. The highlight: the acknowledgements thank T. Hartman and K. Yonekura, then note that "Assistance on many details was provided by Claude Opus 5.5" — a rare explicit AI acknowledgment in a paper by one of physics' greatest living theorists.
