A new Pew Research survey shows Americans remain wary of AI in healthcare, with a notable generational reversal since 2022:
- Only 3% would let AI diagnose alone; 47% accept AI diagnoses with human review; 46% reject any AI role in insurance claims.
- 60% would feel uncomfortable if their own doctor used AI for diagnoses and treatments, double the 30% who are comfortable.
- Attitudes swapped by age: adults under 30 expecting AI to make patient outcomes worse jumped from 29% to 45%, while those 65+ became more hopeful, with 42% now expecting better outcomes.
