Per Reuters, OpenAI has reassigned roughly a quarter of its production engineers to improve security infrastructure following September security incidents, with senior product executive Thibault "Tibo" Sottiaux leading the internal security effort.
Employees had warned that OpenAI's controls were so lax that outsiders, including foreign governments, could obtain sensitive information about the lab's technology with relative ease — anyone with code access could see technical details underlying many projects.
