X.com rewrite cuts first-post load time from 23.9s to 2.7s
nikitabier · x · 2026-11-05
X engineer yagiznizipli detailed the full rewrite of X.com's web stack, which exec nikitabier called a massive undertaking this spring. The old 2006-era stack was one of the last bottlenecks for growth and engineering velocity.
On a slow connection, the old site took over 22 seconds (23.9s in benchmarks) to show the first post on a profile; the new stack does it in 2.7 seconds — nearly 9x faster. The rollout is going country by country.
With the rebuilt web plus new Android and refreshed iOS apps, X claims it has finally reached the "promised land of product development."
