Google Research unveils Agile Deliberation, an LLM framework for teaching VLMs subjective categories
RanjayKrishna · x · 2026-11-05
Google Research introduced Agile Deliberation, a framework for training image classifiers on subjective "gray-area" categories — think "healthy food," curation of inspiring art, or content moderation — where boundaries shift with culture and policy and users rarely start with a complete definition.
The system walks users through an interactive deliberation workflow, from scoping sub-categories to resolving edge cases, then uses an LLM-driven optimization loop to automatically build an accurate, aligned classifier while reducing labeling fatigue. Paper and GitHub are available.
