a16z (Martin Casado) announces its investment in Phaze, which raised an $8.75M seed round.
- Team: Founders boxerbk and Chris Dickson previously built Parsec, then the leading remote desktop solution for graphics-intensive applications, and sold it.
- Product: A high-performance remote desktop giving humans and AI agents a local-like experience on remote workstations, designed from the ground up for latency-sensitive interactive workloads and seamless agent compatibility, management, and security-policy integration.
- Thesis: Computers are no longer used only by people — agents need real machines to run apps, test software, and hand off control to humans, and companies aren't ready for how many computers they'll need, just as computer prices have risen 3x.
