ChatGPT found a dead squirrel, not a $1,300 repair: AI saved one homeowner $3,000 in 3 weeks

A former FTC official says a furnace technician quoted him $1,300 to replace an inducer motor, but ChatGPT helped him find the real culprit: a dead squirrel stuck in the exhaust vent. Over three weeks, AI helped him fix his dryer, microwave, dishwasher, and furnace, saving at least $3,000, plus AI agents helped finish basement construction. He argues this is a real affordability agenda: when expert advice is one free prompt away, household budgets stretch much further.
