Ollama announced that from November 9, 2026, Free plan accounts automatically switch to pay-as-you-go. Six cloud models — gemma4:31b, gpt-oss:120b, gpt-oss:20b, nemotron-3-super, nemotron-3-ultra, nemotron-3-nano:30b — will require credits, with no subscription or service fees.
- Local inference remains free; other plans unchanged
- Ollama will keep partnering with model makers on free trials of new models
- For agent builders, the practical question is which calls are worth paying for and which can move locally — though local inference requires suitable hardware
