Satellite study constrains hyperscale data-centre heat footprint, contradicting earlier alarm
AndyMasley · x · 2026-11-05
A new study in Environmental Research Letters uses satellite observations and energy-balance modeling to constrain the thermal footprint of a hyperscale data-centre cluster. Commentator Andy Masley notes it confirms his earlier back-of-envelope physics argument: waste heat from data centers is not capable of the heating effects a previous study suggested.
